It’s all set in San Sebastian, because on Saturday July 12 will take place the DonostiaKriterium.
In San Sebastian, as throughout the Basque country, the passion for cycling is unmatchable, and the collective HiriBira is partly to blame. Responsible or “guilty” for organizing this event, tells us that the DonostiaKriterium is inspired and created as a tribute to “Critérium ciclista nocturna del Boulevard”, an important race that was part of the program of “Classic’s of San Sebastián”, which was a very successful cycling criterium, the public and the city of San Sebastian. Unfortunately, as its happens to often, over the years this race eventually disappeared. Taking advantage of the massive popularity of this kind of racing in the fixed gear world, the collective HiriBira offers again their city and a big show as a night criterium, reinterpreting it in “modern” key.
The 1.2 km circuit is set in a completely urban area next to the beach between Avenues José Miguel Barandiaran, Zurriola Avenue and Avenida Navarra. With a maximum capacity of 60 participants, riders must complete 22 laps and a total distance of approximately 24 km.
The safety of the riders always first: traffic closed, mandatory helmet and all rules that are already part of the international protocol crits.
The association HiriBira effort, good organization, great prizes (including a fabulous KRZBERG v4 custom color from 8bar bikes) and a beautiful city to party… With all this and more has all the DonostiaKriterium ingredients to be a success!
