Red Hook Crit – Milano No.4

After an exciting career in New York and Barcelona, came the vibrant outcome of the RHC Series in Milan.

In the standings, with 200 riders from 15 different countries fighting shoulder to shoulder to get one of the 85 places available , it could breathe a tense and competitive atmosphere. Nobody wanted to be left out. Each and every one of the rounds were tough because of the high level rider, the hardness of the test and the street circuit where the race was disputed.

The day before the race a storm shakes Milan, causing serious problems across the city and causing a failure to the electrical system of the neighborhood of Bovisa (as happened in the first RHC Milano) wich forced the organization asking for the public’s help to illuminate some areas of the circuit with the lights of their own cars. The dark, cold, moisture from rain of the previous day, and the post -industrial area had an hostile climate that made the RHC Milano No.4 in one of the most epic races.

The race started and the “breakfast” ( the fastest runner in the first round) was for Mario Paz Duque alias ” Chinese ” IRIDE Modena team, which after a round of hell was awarded.

The favourites fought for the firts place. At a high rate, the first positions were alternated among the best. Lap by lap, a few riders were staying, because of  overtakings or falls.

In the absence of a few laps to finish the race , there were 20 survivors fighting for victory. The title was decided in the last laps , Neil Bezdek , Evan and Kyle Murphy, and Stefan Vis came to Milan for only 35 points apart in the championship rating.

Eduard Grosu , the DESGENA team , was one of the fastest runners throughout the test and was constantly setting the fastest lap times of the race. It was on the last lap , when Grosu became the best time with a 1:38:30 that allowed him to dominate a crazy sprint getting over Evan Murphy and Neil Bezdek , and that allowed him to win the desired position .

Neil took the third position which enabled him, with great merit, to stand as champion RHC Series 2013 (1st position in Brooklyn Navy Yard and 3rd position in Milano).

The party after the awards ceremony, became the best spirit mirror of Red Hook. Runners in a more relaxing atmosphere, enjoyed the cold Milanese night accompanied by beer, photos, laughters and conversations about what was an intense, electric and exciting day for everyone.
