Every cell of my body: Tales from Kenya

Taking part in the Safari Gravel and Migration Gravel Race was one of the highlights of our summer, and whenever we look back to our time in East Africa, we remember the unforgettable moments shared with like-minded people. We spent a decent amount of time with our friends at Enough CC, forming a nice group that we would call “Chapati Team” given our common love for this integral part of the Kenyan gastronomy.

They have just published a short documentary about their experience in both races, which took place in June, a couple of days apart. Mattia De Marchi and Federico Damiani were the representatives of the team in Africa. Some of them had already participated in past years, but that does not mean they were not challenged by the circumstances.

Same as us, their goals were more about enjoying the experience rather than achieving a specific race result. Riding a bike on the other side of the world is a unique feeling, the perfect occasion to discover new places and cultures. “How many more chances will I have to ride in places like this?”, wondered Mattia when fighting against adversity during his attempt to hold his lead in the General Classification of the Migration Gravel Race.

It only took us 30 seconds into the video to get goosebumps. The chants of the local Maasai got stuck in our heads for days after returning home, and it was emotional to hear them again. For the following 15 minutes of the documentary, we couldn’t relate more with what the riders of Enough CC were saying.

The project is called “Every cell of my body”, depicting how not only Mattia and Federico, but all of us taking part in the race, had to dig deep to find the necessary energies to make it to the finish. It was filmed by Alessandro Ponti and edited by Luca Grandini.
