Mianzi Rei from Optimus Fixed, Germany

Mianzi Rei is an awesome and charming girl from Berlin… Mia it’s a blogger of Optimus Fixed, one of our favourite blogs about cycling and fixed community around the world. It’s a rider that always try to improve herself and she is one of the female icon of the fixed gear scene. For sure is an inspiring and unique person.

1. Which was your first time on a fixed bike? What is the feeling that makes you a bike addict?

Cycling for me is a continuous evolution. It never stops. Together with the physical movement and the minimal style it brings it to a single point. You never stop. For me the record of the day sets the minimum for tomorrow.

2. What are the best activities in your opinion in Berlin for a fixed rider? Is it Berlin the fucking city?

Be prepared. You can watch out travel guide growing from city to city. Take a look on www.optimusfixed.com and see my favorite spots in Berlin.

Do you want to be a part of it? Don’t hesitate to ask. The Story behind is simple. We went to Milano (Italy) for the Red Hook Crit in October 2013. Beside the Dodici shop and some other spots like velodrome we didn’t know where to ride and what to see. We were a sort of blind. That’s where the idea comes from, and maybe it brings the community a step together.

3. Can you tell us about OPTIMUS FIXED?

Optimus Fixed is a sort of platform for the community. We try to talk, take a look behind everything. It doesn’t depend if it’s a product test or a city checkup. We try to give a sight in our own experiences, and try to let you see the world through our eyes. And like cycling itself, it’s a ongoing thing. Optimus Fixed is more a medium than a blog, it’s part of ourself because we share the things we are living for.

4. Are you also a model?

I got a lot of interests and different inspirations. I like the idea of an evolution, but also the idea of a final solution. For myself, I live in a straight and also chaotic way. Every day I try to involve and take another step to come further. I have tattoos, but I am also a little bit stuffy. I would see myself as a person of contrasts, I decide from my instinct and trust in my feeling.

5. You are probably a female icon, what can you tell to all the girls that are going to try a track bike but maybe are a little bit afraid?

I want the girl’s scene to grow. We are no longer in the shade of the boys. Most of them support us, and the best thing is we support each other. This blog here www.itchy-themovement.com brings everything together what I want to tell the riding girls out there. In short. Have fun and don’t be afraid to ask the guys. Most of them are gentle and will help you out.

6. A small phrase that represents your passion for cycling and bikes…

Lot of people have said a lot of clever words, but to stay in my hood, it’s the motto of two companies and friends here in berlin. 8Bar-Bikes with “My legs are my gears”, and Schindelhauer Bikes with “Bikes to conquer urban space”.

7. Thanks to…

I want to thank Jochen and Falk from Giro. I am looking forward for the “NEW ROAD” – collection and the support in the next year. Also a big thank you to the guys from Schindelhauher Bikes. You are such a great team and I am very proud to ride your product!!! Thanks to Konrad, my patient and hard partner when it comes to training.
