Pedalea o Revienta: la Volta. Seen by them

After a real experience with the guys from Pedalea o Revienta we didn’t want to miss the opportunity to ask a few questions, so that some people can understand, a little more, how they lived it firsthand.

We’ll leave you with some words from each one:

FRAN MOLERO COT (32)

How would you summarize your experience of this adventure? In alone word EPIC, and highlight the immense logistical support from David Molero, Gabi Molero, Christian Fletcher, Dani Invernon, Natalia, Patricia Muñoz, and the team THELEMA ARTWORKS  and PETEROFTHESPOON has been amazing!

What is the best thing about this challenge? Uncertainty abounds throughout the route, the details of the companionship, all that we fouled around the hole time and have left us tired.

What’s the worst thing about these challenges? The weather changing the hole time and especially the last 50, 30, 10 km, is very hard and the worst of trip! Ah! And your ass is not at it’s best moment!

How do you evade suffering, fatigue and the desire to get there? For the “likes” and “follows” (laughs) just kidding, this was part of a joke in this latest challenge, the truth is that thinking as little as possible about it, talking with your buds and taking with you Dani Delis, it’s like a monkey show, our monkey! (laughs). I want to comment on a story that happened in this last challenge, around 340 km was raining cats and dogs, we were super wet, wind, fire, dragons, ponies… and busted! Dani and I wonder if he could spit, that he wanted to. I said yes, but not in my face and without a cough. (Laughter)

Would you do it again? Of course! Indeed, we are already working on the next one, which is making in hard for us to find, as we go to the limit and we are doing it right and it’s difficult to overcome if we talk about all the kilometers in a day, but not impossible ! #yanoteries #pedaleaorevienta.

DANIEL DELIS RUBIO (26)

How would you summarize your experience of this adventure? A year of learning and personal overcoming.

What is the best thing about this challenge? It’s to prove yourself that you can overcome your limits, know your teammates fatigue and know yourself and how you when you’re in extreme situations. There comes a point where the road and the fatigue meet up at the same point, if you add to that weather like this time and get over it as we got over it…  Your personal satisfaction is great.

What’s the worst thing about these challenges? There is nothing bad about it, if you like what you enjoy, even in the worst situations. If you would of asked this at the Panadella with all the rain which is worse than giving birth and I’ll give you my bike, but in retrospect… he,he.

How do you evade suffering, fatigue and the desire to get there? JOKES AND LAUGHTER! We should never lose our humor, even if you can’t make your friends laugh or there just not listing to you and there thinking this guy is an idiot… it’s something that helps you to not think on how much more is there to ride.

Would you do it again? ASAP.

KIRIAN MARTORELL CARBONELL (23)

How would you summarize your experience of this adventure? The experience was both physically and mentally hard, the distance to finish the challenge or the air, cold, rained on us about the last kilometers it became very hard.

What is the best thing about this challenge? The satisfaction of finishing them and beat myself what really makes me feel great.

What’s the worst thing about these challenges? The worst suffering and fatigue that builds up as the hours go by.

How do you evade suffering, fatigue and the desire to get there?  You evade the suffering on not thinking about the kilometers that are left but in thinking about what we are going to achieve, support and laughter from your teammates who do make everything much more enjoyable.

Would you do it again? Of course! And I have wanted to know what is the next challenge of Pedalea o Revienta.

OMAR ROSALES EXPÓSITO (25)

How would you summarize your experience of this adventure? They are very tough challenges and when you say 360km and 3500 vertical drops it’s said very fast but the reality it’s that 14h pedaling that’s really suffering and mentally you must be highly qualified. If it wasn’t for the great team that we have to ask you how are you, you talk with them and it help’s you morally because if not these challenges would be twice as hard.

What is the best thing about this challenge? To see what you are able to do on your fixed gear bike and the crazy people that are with you.

What’s the worst thing about these challenges? The worst is when you want to go more but your body doesn’t respond.

How do you evade suffering, fatigue and the desire to get there?  Suffering escapes weighing around preparing the team for months to plan routes, sponsors, as do well to stop to eat something etc… and think that a lot of people rely on you and you’re going to fail them within 14h miss by a physical pain that then becomes mentally for not having trained more, or for not being up to the challenge’ve even sudden pains that seem excuses for not cycling but now think I will not stop until I see my body doesn’t respond.

Would you do it again? The experience with the team for so many hours in the good and the bad times don’t change anything, there are times when they are very happy with both the scenery and great roads and see your colleagues who are enjoying and motivates you to keep pedaling until you drop. I have great memories of my mate Dani we are soaking after 70km in the rain and didn’t stop raining and we went down a hill filled with water and we didn’t give, he turned and told me he was so happy that I wanted to cry.

IVAN MORENTE ANGUITA (30)

How would you summarize your experience of this adventure? It’s one of my best experiences on a bike so far. It was hard and we had to suffer but happy and proud for what we have done.

What is the best thing about this challenge? Without doubting, it’s the emotion you feel when you arrive at your destination and you see all this entourage of your friends and acquaintances who are equally or more happy than yourself for doing it. That feeling is why now would take my bike and do it again.

What’s the worst thing about these challenges?  Personally for me the worst thing is when your stomach starts to twist when you’ve been many hours eating “bad” that’s when you really start get fucked up.

How do you evade suffering, fatigue and the desire to get there? How did I evade suffering? You can’t evade that… you live with it… let your mind in blank, don’t think about anything, just pedaling, you listen, you look, you just go, and get more tired, more fatigue and thats when you say to yourself… buf !This is hard!

Would you do it again? I don’t I need to answer that, yes indeed! Of course!

DANIEL CILLO DÍAZ, AKA: EL CILLO (30)

How would you summarize your experience of this adventure? We agree it was epic and incidents. But personally I would summarize as unique. There are moments were you suffer like a bloody pig, at times you laughing so hard the alarm on your heart rate monitor goes off at all times and learn that it’s an experience that at times makes you mentally stronger.

What is the best thing about this challenge? The best is the stories that you come home with, rolling down the road unknown to you, enjoy the scenery so splendid that we have and overcoming yourself daily with your insanity.

What’s the worst thing about these challenges?  The worst is definitely suffering in the hardest moments, knowing how to control when you’re down by the weariness of the ride, knee pain and suffocation of the last meter of ascent.

How do you evade suffering, fatigue and the desire to get there? You evade it by thinking about the satisfaction that’s left to get there… And the chocolate waiting for you when you finish.

Would you do it again? Right now, will you join us? You don’t have the courage to.

ROGER MATHEU (28)

How would you summarize your experience of this adventure? My experience was sensational until km 194, that’s where I am injured and my adventure ends, my spirit falls and I am filled with desolation.

What is the best thing about this challenge? Share exceptional moments with my buddies in a sports that has fellowship at all times, overcome and achieve self-set targets, visit unknown places, and above all feel fulfilled.

What’s the worst thing about these challenges?  In this type of challenges that you risk a big probability of injury, discouragement lasted because of this, the weather conditions is a factor to consider.

How do you evade suffering, fatigue and the desire to get there?  To make the situation more enjoyable I usually listen to music, to be accompanied, between them encourage us to keep on going, don’t leave anyone behind, everybody together.

Would you do it again? Repeat safe, alone or accompanied, I couldn’t finish the quest.

JORDI FONT TURON  (30)

How would you summarize your experience of this adventure?  In a word: SPECTACULAR.

What is the best thing about this challenge? See how you can push your limits.

What’s the worst thing about these challenges?  Your destroyed the following two days.

How do you evade suffering, fatigue and the desire to get there?  Personally leaving my mind in blank and all I can concentrate on breathing and pedaling, looking at the floor, eating… and of course, joking with teammates. Ah! And this time, I thought about the BACOA burger that I was going to eat when I got to Barcelona.

Would you do it again? Tell me where and when, and I’ll be there.

IVAN LOPEZ ALARCAON (38)

How would you summarize your experience of this adventure? Throughout my sporting career I have had many experiences, I think that more than 300,000 kilometers of ultra-background go far but what I saw this weekend with Pedalea o Revienta has been incredible, the most, fixed gear, without brakes, professional bike, I’m hallucinating… I’ll take my hat off to all of them, to all the drivers, photographers and other assistance, were all awesome. I wish you guys were always with me on my adventures. Chapó.

What is the best thing about this challenge? For all of us to finish together without any problems.

What’s the worst thing about these challenges?  The worst about these challenges is to have a physical problem and not be able to finish, as expected to have been preparing for a long time.

How do you evade suffering, fatigue and the desire to get there?  When I do this I don’t suffer, I enjoy. Fatigue can’t be present because if not you no longer suffer, and the desire to always get there is a motivation to continue.

Would you do it again? Of course, all do anything with you guys, I’m giving up on fixed gear, a knee problem I could mess up my season.

JUAN SIMONET HERNANDEZ (23)

How would you summarize your experience of this adventure? Epic. Now with the experience of Valencia, I was expecting something similar, but the first major difference were all hours of night filming nonstop. When I thought everything would calm down and the day would start with a sunrise, “patapum”! It starts raining. So it’s at this point where I realized that I was doing something big, epic and that I will always remember. If things could not get worse, arriving at Igualada, where we expect hot food and only 60 kilometers from home, the weather get even worse. I remember riding and hear someone shouting “stop stop”, the sweat, rain and water that was being spited out from the wheels was getting the “hombre del mazo” eyes like lenticular wheels harness having to switch eyes to see.

What is the best thing about this challenge? In the short term the shower, throw yourself on the bed and think what you just did, stretch your legs and sleep until the body your asks you to. In the long term, thanks to video by Tehelema and photos by Brazo de Hierro, to remember more graphically much of what we did.

What’s the worst thing about these challenges?  The worst comes when you stop talking between each other is decreasing, this is where the fatigue comes, when your back hurts, you’re hungry and your legs are already tired. When you take 250 km, you turn up a mountain top and to top your knees are complaining.

How do you evade suffering, fatigue and the desire to get there?  Evade it the easiest way. Looking at your sides, front and back and see that you are not alone, thinking that you give each pedal stroke is less for that shower.

Would you do it again? Yeees. All this has been forming a large wheel, which forces us to for it, encourages and motivates you to keep doing challenges without not finishing one, I can’t stop thinking about what’s next. There is many organizing, calling, sending emails and see that after so much time back there has its moment of glory, motivates you to follow before and want to do more and more and more.

TONI JIMÉNEZ CALADO (29)

How would you summarize your experience of this adventure? Epic, suffering, wet, fun, leg-breaks, break-balls, fuck-knees, YOLO, SWAG, LOL, there are many words to sum up everything I had felt on this adventure of a little over 16 hours.

What is the best thing about this challenge? For me the best of these challenges is to be able to do it with the company of so many dysfunctional people like me, have a good time with a great deal of suffering sometimes does take the most unexpected people’s faces, feelings are magnified and for a moment can you be united who take the side as if you were Siamese twins or lovers that are a little straight.

What’s the worst thing about these challenges?  For me the worst of these challenges is to think about the challenge itself, the physical and mental preparation can fuck you alive, for example, to present this challenge that we all had a great time to catch the bad weather, but once you’re there like a wet chicken, frozen and tired, even worse because you realize that as voluntarily agreed to such a fucking epic thing.

How do you evade suffering, fatigue and the desire to get there?  To the suffering and weariness the truth is that I have no trick, try to concentrate on the simple things of the moment, by staying away from my brain and sticking on to someone wheel, analyzing even the smallest detail of the back of his bike, the sound of the chain, of the tire on the asphalt the hypnotic motion of the steady cadence, those little details make me disconnect the style “Windows screen saver.”

Would you do it again? Always.
