As experienced organizers of multi-day gravel adventures, the people behind Border Bash keep innovating and finding new ways to delight cycling enthusiasts with their bucket-list events. When it is not a new location, it is a revamping of the format of an already existing product.
In this third edition of the Border Bash Aragón event, taking place on April 24th-27th, the big news is the introduction of an overnight route to make the most of the Sierra de Guara. The new itinerary aims to gather like-minded people to ride along Aragon’s unknown but beautiful gravel paths. It covers a greater area so that participants can get to know more about the local culture and visit additional spots that will put the icing on the cake of a fantastic weekend.
Even if there will be a base camp, in this case the Camping Cañones de Guara Formiga, the 2025 Border Bash Aragon will be more adventurous than ever. Everyone is expected to check in on Thursday, as the adventure begins on Friday morning with a 69 km gravel ride to Refugio de Nocito, where participants will spend the night.
All types of bikepacking gear will be put on display, but taking into account the almost 2,000 meters of elevation on the menu, participants will need to make a conscious choice about what to pack. The main highlights, at least when it comes to viewpoints, will be the multiple water reservoirs along the way.
On Saturday morning, participants will have breakfast at the refuge before heading back to the base camp following a route of 63 km with 1,500 m of accumulated elevation. Riders will reach some of the highest spots of the Sierra and Cañones de Guara National Park before enjoying a long descent. Once everyone has completed the overnight itinerary, the traditional Jota dances will start, followed by a rewarding dinner.
The last ride of the event will be 47 km long and mainly flat, which those who stayed up until late at night will be thankful for. There will be many interesting stories to tell, and the format of this Border Bash Aragon is perfect for spending time on and off the bike with old and new cycling friends.
“It’s about connecting with kindred spirits, sharing stories by the campfire, and savoring every moment without the weight of tomorrow’s concerns.”
