The bottom bracket. That bike component that most cyclists do not care about yet can have a big impact on their riding experience. CeramicSpeed has always been at the forefront of bearings production, and despite a constant strive for perfection, they still refuse to accept limits to it. That’s the mindset behind the new BB ALPHA, a complete reimagining of the bottom bracket, rebuilt from the ground up with a single purpose: to redefine what smooth, efficient, and durable really mean.
Rather than a response to faults or failure, the BB ALPHA emerged from a question CeramicSpeed has asked itself for years: “How far can precision engineering go when every detail is reconsidered?” The result is a bottom bracket where every component, material, and interface has been tested, refined, and tested again, sometimes to extremes that only make sense in CeramicSpeed’s relentless world of marginal gains.
At the core of the BB ALPHA is a new Hardened Stainless Steel race material, paired with CeramicSpeed’s trademark ceramic balls. The internal geometry has been reshaped to offer better load support and handle pre-load forces with newfound stability. It’s a design that reduces friction and enhances longevity and consistency across countless hours and kilometers.
The custom-made seals have been another focus of refinement. Striking a perfect balance between protection and efficiency, these light-contact seals improve bearing shielding by 500% while preserving the effortless rotation CeramicSpeed is known for. Their stainless steel backing further strengthens resistance against the intrusion of dirt, water, or pressure, something essential for the kind of mixed-discipline riding today’s cyclists demand.
The dust covers, engineered from stiff POM plastic, have gone through no fewer than 28 design iterations. The bearings now sit slightly further out in the cup, allowing the cover to sit flush with the edge. This is an elegant, functional tweak that keeps debris at bay and elevates the component’s durability in real-world conditions.
The structure itself reflects an obsession with strength and simplicity. Machined from 7075 alloy, the new cups save around 10% of weight across the range while improving stiffness. This new platform also simplifies installation and compatibility, particularly for DUB and Shimano systems, emphasizing user experience without compromising precision.
Across more than one million test kilometers, through lab simulations and real-world racing with Soudal Quick-Step on the road, and PAS Racing beyond tarmac, the BB ALPHA has proven its resilience under the most demanding conditions — including sustained loads of 3000 watts for seven hours straight.
Covered by a lifetime warranty, the BB ALPHA is the product of CeramicSpeed’s uncompromising pursuit of frictionless motion.
